Our Purpose
Our Student Ministry exists to REACH students, to CONNECT them with Jesus and other Christians, so they can GROW in their faith and SERVE God with their lives.
Our Plan
How do we CONNECT students?
- We are also dedicated to creating an environment where every student is known and has the opportunity to connect with others and Jesus.
- We feel our small groups, or Fuel Groups are the best way to accomplish this goal. These small groups are the “life-line” of this ministry! Fuel Groups consist of and adult leader and a group (5-8) of students who are the same age, same gender and are at the same stage in life.
- We offer fellowship through activities, trips and summer conferences and camps where students grow together in their relationships with Christ and one another.
How do we encourage students to GROW?
Our Student Ministry is dedicated to teaching seven core foundational principles to students. We call these principles “checkpoints”. Over the course of a seven year period (6th-12th grades) students will be equipped with these seven principles. These seven checkpoints will serve as the foundation for everything we teach students. Students will hear a sermon series on each checkpoint every year. If students are with us from 6th grade until graduation, they will be equipped with all seven checkpoints, seven times over a seven year period.
- We provide a worship experiences (VELOCITY, RPM) where students are challenged to passionately pursue Christ and better their relationship with HIM.
- We emphasize the importance of daily personal time with God. PRL... pray, read, and listen
How do we challenge students to SERVE?
- Students are encouraged to serve within the church through Sudden Impact. Sudden Impact is where students partner with our Preschool and Elementary Ministries to fill a volunteer role on a weekly or monthly basis. Students serve as small group leaders, characters in skits, nursery workers, toddler workers, etc.
- We also ask Fuel Groups to plan two service projects a year. (ex: yard work for the elderly, Christmas Angel Tree, Operation Christmas Child, visit a nursing home, volunteer at Serenity Center, etc.)
- We participate in mission trip opportunities through out the year, including an annual mission trip in the spring, as well as service projects throughout the community.

Our Principles
Our Student Ministry is dedicated to teaching core, foundational principles to our students. Over the course of the seven year period (6th - 12th grades) that they are a part of our ministry, students will be equipped with seven principles we call the 7 Checkpoints. These seven principles will serve as the foundation of everything we teach our students.
Checkpoint 1: Authentic Faith
Principle: God can be trusted; he will do all He has promised to do.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” - Proverbs 3:5-6
Checkpoint 2: Spiritual Disciplines
Principle: When you see as God sees, you will do as God says.
“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”- Romans 12:2
Checkpoint 3: Moral Boundaries
Principle: Purity paves the way to intimacy
“It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control his own body in a way that is holy and honorable... For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, he who rejects this instruction does not reject man but God, who gives you his Holy Spirit.” - 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8
Checkpoint 4: Healthy Friendships
Principle: Your friendships determine the direction and quality of your life
“He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.”
- Proverbs 13:20
Checkpoint 5: Wise Choices
Principle: Walk wisely in a fool’s world
“Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.” - Ephesians 5:15-17
Checkpoint 6: Ultimate Authority
Principle: Maximum freedom is found under God’s authority
“Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.”
- Romans 13:1-2
Checkpoint 7: Others First
Principle: When you make yourself nothing, you’re really something
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” - Philippians 2:3-4
